Hey Everyone:
Happy Monday. We have school vacation here this week so lots of fun hanging out. My daughter is a senior in high school so these times are precious.
I wanted to do a cracked glass tutorial and thought using Nickie Running Late for School would be a perfect stamp to ink up for this tutorial. I love this technique but tend to forget about it. I dusted off my supplies and got to creating.
The Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel is the key ingredient to making cracked glass. I have tried regular clear embossing powder and it just doesn't work the same. I colored my image and then used Versamark (you could also use a clear embossing ink pad as well) and inked up my heart and main image. I then tapped off the excess and heat embossed the papers. They become jelly like and seem as if they are going to run off the edge, but they never do. Let cool completely before adding the next layer.
I repeated this process six times. You want your embossing to be thick so that you will get a nice crack when you are ready. Once you have completed the number of layers that you are happy with, you can place your pieces in the freezer for 20 minutes. Take out and crack gently and work quickly as your hands warm the paper and makes cracking more diffficult. If you are not happy with how it came out, you can reheat and start again with the freezing and cracking. You can also ink over the image and then wipe off the excess which gives it more of a vintage look.
Here is the final project.
Remember to check out the Inky Impressions store for this image as well as many other cute ones. Thanks for reading and have a great day.
Hugs,
Anita
