Love Notes - Note Box Tutorial

Hello, Crafty Peeps!
I decided I would do a little tutorial for this weeks post.  I am trying to get a jump on end of the year teacher gifts and decided I would give them all note holders for their desks.  One of the products I received to work with this month was a sentiment.  Well it works perfectly for my note holder projects.

These are fun and easy to make so let's get started!

Step 1:  Gather Your Materials
2- 12 x 12 sheet of heavyweight chipboard
1- roll of clear shelf liner (this is optional)
1- 12"x 12" sheet of designer paper
1-3 sheets of 6x6 designer paper
 (depends on your design)
Scor-tape, Scor-board, Craft Knife
Paper Cutter, Ruler
Step 2 - Cut your chipboard
Cut the Chipboard:  (2) 4-1/2"x 5-1/2" pieces  and (1) 1"x5-1/2"Piece
Step 3 - Designer Paper
Cut your dp to 6-1/2"x11-1/2". Cut a piece of shelf liner that i slightly larger than your dp.  I usually have a 1/4" overlap.  Starting in one corner apply the shelf liner.  Use your bone folder to smooth and to prevent air bubbles. Trim excess liner. Set aside.
Step 4 - Adhere Chipboard
Add Scor-tape to one side of the chipboard pieces

Arrange the pieces to the back of your cover so that there is a 1/8" gap.  Place a ruler at the bottom to keep pieces straight and to find center.  Remove tape. Place piece one a a time.

Cut your corners as how above.
Apply Scor-Tape to chipboard (or paper.  Your choice)

Run your bone folder along the edges and start to bend by lifting up your cover.  Remove tape and seal.  Burnish with bone folder.

Step 5 - Finish Inside

Cut one piece of dp large enough to finish one side of your base and and center spine. Adhere.

Cut a second piece large enough to cover the other side and half of the spine.  Cut the ends that will attach to the spine at an angle.  This is the Top of your note box.
Use your bone folder to true all your folds.
Your base is now complete.

Step 6 - Create Your Paper Tray
Cut a piece of Heavyweight Card Stock/Designer Paper to 7"x6" and score at 1" on all sides.
Cut the interior score line on each corner. Add tape and form box.
Adhere a 1" piece of Scor-tape to the back of the box
Adhere Scor-tape to the bottom of the box
Center the paper tray on the bottom base. Remove the tape at the bottom of the paper tray first.  Make sure that the tray is flush.  Finally remove the tape at the back of the tray adhere to spine by pressing the spine against the tray.  The angle cut will make sure the tray closes automatically.  If you want a thumb cut in your paper tray. Make it before attaching the tray or applying decorative papers.
I used my Fiskars postage stamp punch to cut out my Inky Impressions "Love" Sentiment.  I added a note stamp to the bottom.
The punched piece was sponged with Iced Spruce and Evergreen Baugh D.I.
I wrapped a 1/4" piece of black gingham ribbon, matted it on corresponding green paper
and added a small key from my stash.
I made a banner cut on the end of the Ribbon and added
Add note paper.  I used papers that correspond to the colors in my dp.

Thanks for stopping by!  Hope you found a little inspiration!
Hugz,
Chana
